28. 12. 2020

On December 26, 2020, the Association of Slovenes Educated Abroad (Association VTIS) presented the VTIS LETA 2020 award to the Parus Foundation in the premises of the Presidential Palace, where the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor hosted the traditional annual meeting of the association.

The Association presents the award to organisations and individuals for activities in the field of networking and cooperation between Slovenian citizens at home and abroad. At the award ceremony, the Association emphasized the excellence of the Parus Foundation’s activities in the field of knowledge circulation between Slovenia and foreign countries, which is extremely important for the Slovenian legal system, as the only obligation of our scholarship holders is to return to Slovenia and to transfer the acquired knowledge into Slovenian society for at least three years.

The Parus Foundation, which was founded in 2006 by attorney Miro Senica enables the most successful graduates from the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana to undertake postgraduate studies of commercial law and law of legal and economic sciences in the most intellectually stimulating environments of the world’s best universities, including Harvard and Yale. The only obligation of scholarship holders after successfully completing postgraduate studies is to return to Slovenia for at least three years and thus actively contribute to the development of Slovenian society. To date, the Parus Foundation has enabled postgraduate studies to 39 scholarship holders.

On behalf of the Parus Foundation, the VTIS LETA 2020 award was accepted by the Foundation’s business secretary, attorney Katarina Mervič, and Uroš Čop, managing partner of Law Firm Miro Senica and Attorneys, Ltd.

The University of Ljubljana awarded the Pro Universitate Labacensi plaque to the Parus Foundation in 2016 for making a significant contribution to the development of the Slovenian academic and economic environment.
